Very nice list. I love WPRobot but I don’t have much success with autoblogs. It’s hard to get visitors and to avoid duplicate content. WPRobot is able to translate but the translations are very very bad..

I think that I need to chime in here and say that I find auto blogging tremendously uncool. To me, it amounts to little more than ripping off other people’s content, and as someone who works really hard to write and create high-quality articles for my own blog, it really makes me mad when I find some other site – usually with a poorly implemented WordPress theme – ripping off what I worked so hard to create.

I recognize that a lot of people see blogging as a good way to make money – and it can be if you do it right. But doing it right involves creating awesome content for your readers, not just rehashing something that someone else wrote. If you can’t produce enough unique content to keep multiple blogs running, then drop the extra blogs and just focusing on doing one blog the right way.

It will be better for you in the end.

Also, there’s absolutely no need to post every single day. A couple times a week is more than adequate, and will give you readers the opportunity to keep up with your content. Daily releases (or even multiple times a day) can become somewhat overwhelming!

Great article, especially for those who have ventured into autoblogging thinking it’s the answer to their needs only to find it takes a lot of time and work to manage multiple blogs and that nothing is truly ‘auto’ in the end…unless you employ some cool tools! Datafeedr is a solid service for those looking to manage affiliate datafeeds but we found we needed something more advanced (and even more more ‘auto’) than their default WordPress plugin and so developed our own – CSVPiG. CSVPiG is a WordPress CSV import plugin with automated scheduling and a heap of other advanced features. You can read all about it here “blogpig.com/products/csvpig”. If you’d like to take it for a free spin, just drop me a line.

But there are many out there who wants to automate everything. So the market is ripe..

BlogPiG

06. May, 2010

It doesn’t have to be that black and white – automate OR handcraft everything. Of course quality matters and unique, hand crafted, genuine content is important but it takes a lot of time and isn’t always scaleable. Full automation meets the needs of some bloggers, 100% hands on work suits others, but a magic blend of automation and personal input can also work wonders. Imagine automating all the time-consuming tasks like managing datafeeds or tagging your blogs so that your personal input goes onto the more valuable tasks of crafting your thoughts, opinions and reviews. Don’t get caught in the trap of thinking you have to be ‘all’ automation or ‘no’ automation. Consider a happy blend.

If autoblogging is no different than splogging, (aka spam blogging, or ripping others’ content, even with a linked attribution) then how is that productive?

Earl Simmons

09. May, 2010

Auto-blogging, could useful for domain preparation, increasing PR, etc… could be effective for link pyramids…

It also helps build links for the article submitters, giving them more presence on the net.

Use wisely ;)

Autoblogging

I think the different is intent Ari. If someone is autoblogging just to spam promote their website then that is wrong, but if they’re autoblogging to create an “everything under one roof” website then that’s okay.

Thank you guys for all your comments and feedback. Autoblogging is not bad if done in right way. Am not in favor of stealing content. If you are posting something from other blog, always give a backlink to the source and mention the site reference.

I don’t think fetching RSS, displaying it on your website and giving a backlink to the original is criminal act.

Autoblogging per se is not illegal. I have a site that I blend with auto post using WPRobot and it works great!

If you choose to get content through the article module there’s nothing wrong with it since authors want their articles be syndicated.

What I hate to see is when your articles are copied without even linking back to the source or your site.

I think you should consider an update and also include http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/multipress-content/ in your list. Is free and does more then some of the paid plugins i know (some of them not listed here).

On the other side, internet is big enough for everybody. If don’t like something, don’t use it.

I am a crazy soccer fan, and I was looking for a website where I can watch FIFA 2010 world cup matches live, after searching so many sites and places I finally found out this page dewesh.com/soccer.html , where you can stream matches live. I hope this information helped the other reader of this blog who are looking for something like this. :)

Have you actually read the final article that the WPRobot plugin produces? The grammer is TERRIBLE and it is VERY obvious to the reader that the article was not written by a human.

In other words, it produces bad quality content.

I agree with the folks above saying it’s a lazy man’s way to make money online but I think that if the autoblogging plugin or whatever they use is a good one, there’s chances one could make easy money with only spending for domain/hosting and some time to set up WordPress.

Truth is I’ve seen a bunch of sites using autoblogging plugins that were pure crap, some of them didn’t even had a link to the original content which is unacceptable. I believe most of them aren’t making anything worth mentioning.

I’ve also seen quite a few sites that looked pretty good and, judging by their Alexa rank, they do have traffic, therefore sales. It all sums up to how you use autoblogging I think, if you do your homework pick the best keywords (that are searched for but there’s a lack in promotion), one could make a great income off of it.

I’m not a lazy man and I do have my own written blogs, actually quite a few, but I was lately thinking about setting some autoblogging sites see how’s it working. Most of the successful blogs I saw were using Multipress Lite so I think I’m going to use it on this project. At first glance, looks like it takes its content from Yahoo Answers, Flikr and some article directories so it should be good to use. It also creates a link to the original content so there shouldn’t be any issues with people getting angry for their content being used elsewhere.

I’ll let you know how it works out if I have the time to get it started.

I think this plugin is made by an indian guy.

Chris

17. Sep, 2010

I don’t think WPRobot was made by an Indian guy and looking at their support, they’re surely not Indians as they do know what they’re talking about in pure English. The issue with WPRobot is that it does cost a lot and there’s no way to try it out for free.

I suggest you give Multipress Lite a try, it’s free, works fine and you’ll get used with autoblogging. You can then buy WPRobot if that’s what you want.

It’s all about how you use the autoblogging plugin.

Credit the original author. Don’t include the entire post, keep 3/4ths and link to the original. Take the time to rewrite the thing.

Regardless of what we say here, a ton of blogs earning a couple bucks a day does equal money. And where there is relatively easy money, there will be those who exploit the system to make a buck.

I suggest you protect your blog content with an appropriate content that makes scraping far more difficult, if not impossible.

22. Feb, 2011

I would agree that a lot of autoblogger users are basically creating glorified scraper sites, but I also think there is an acceptable method for utilizing autoblogging software while respecting the original authors copyright.

Most of the blogs I run contain only original content that I authored and published myself.

However, a few of my blogs contain content that is republished using autoblogging plugins; typically news aggregation sites that pull rss feeds from news organizations.

Each post that is autoblogged contains all of the original feed content including links, embedded media, and even advertising. All autoblogged content includes full credit to the original author (when provided by the feed) and links to original source. I also enable pingbacks so the feed owner knows that I am linking to their content, and can contact me if they would like their content removed.

Incidentally, I’ve gotten very good results with the FeedWordPress plugin. It’s very flexible and easy to use.

I like autobloging also but not to comeplety automate my content more to help me out. Have it fill in the gaps for me when I cant write or have something new on my blog. I rather have a strong blog and promote it well then have 50 blogs that the content is unreadable.

I don’t understand how people make money on those blogs that you can’t read?? I come across them so often, if people would just take the time to read the article before posting the internet would not look so down on autobloging.

Lisa
